Fall Maintenance Tips

Turn off air conditioner and place protective winter cover on outside air conditioning unit.

Clean air filters in HRV, furnace and hood fan.

Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Check attic for displaced insulation and make sure baffles are unobstructed.

Clean windows and remove screens, ensure they are locked and touching the weather-stripping.

Switch on thermostat and turn on fan to improve air circulation throughout the house.

Open outside hose bib and close valve in the basement but open small bleeder nut on the side. Leave like this all winter.

Check roof louvers and vents for blockage to ensure proper air flow throughout the attic.

Make sure gas and hydro meters are not blocked by debris or vegetation.
