Maintenance Fall Maintenance Tips

INSIDE

• Clean air filters in HRV, furnace and hood fan.
• Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
• Check attic for displaced insulation and make sure baffles are unobstructed.
• Clean windows and remove screens, ensure they are locked and touching the weather-stripping.

OUTSIDE

• Turn off the air conditioner and place protective winter cover on the air conditioning unit.
• Switch on the thermostat and turn on the fan to improve air circulation throughout the house.
• Open the outside bib and close valve in the basement but open small bleeder nut on the side. Leave like this all winter.
• Check roof louvers and vents for blockage and ensure proper air flow throughout the attic.
• Make sure that venting for hot water system and furnace are not blocked.
